HOME.

Europe, 21st century. Freedom seems conquered.

I live on a stage of intimate projections. I travel on my own along the city’s empty roads.

Along two years I immersed in the life of those emigrants that between 1960 and 1974
had to leave their country escaping from war, hunger, poverty and repression leaving behind their wife’s, children’s and homes,
uncertain about when or even whether they would see and hold them ever again.

The Portuguese emigration during Salazar government is still far from understanding in all its extensionand with all its consequences.

It was a black period which affected mainly the most disadvantaged population from the countryside in such
a way as never seen before. This was doubtlessly the greatest exodus and the most significant human bleeding ever witnessed in the history of Portugal.

Away from what might be superfluous I look for the essential. Whatever I eat up today will be eating me up tomorrow.

The conquered freedom as we see it once is nothing but loneliness.

HOGAR.
